Metabolism and bioenergetics

June 16, 2020 | Duration: 54 mins.

Cells use myriad mechanisms to adjust imbalances in redox state or ATP availability. Talks in this session describe studies using specialized technical approaches such as click chemistry and fluorescent sensors to probe the activity of enzymes involved in energetic homeostasis. Researchers discuss their investigation into spatial activity patterns of an AMP-responsive kinase; substrate selection by a histone deacylase that depends on redox state; and the protein acetylation signaling cascade that links oxidative stress with diabetic cardiomyopathy.

The talks in this virtual event were originally programmed to take place as an in-person Spotlight Session at the 2020 ASBMB Annual Meeting.
